The U.K. and U.S. governments announced prize challenges to accelerate the adoption of privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs) to fight global societal challenges in the areas of global finance and healthcare. The goals are to drive innovation, deliver strong end-to-end privacy guarantees, and develop privacy-preserving solutions that generate high-utility machine learning models.

Through the challenge, you can engage with government agencies and global companies, as well as learn about federated learning, privacy-preserving solutions, and emerging technologies while making a difference. The challenges are free to enter with the chance to win cash prizes from a total prize pool of approximately £1.3m / $1.6m. Learn more about the U.K. and U.S. governments’ PET challenge here.

How can R3 and Conclave support?

Startup founders building multi-party and privacy-preserving applications are faced with unique challenges that traditional tech startups have not yet confronted. Building these solutions requires expertise in areas such as security, low-level coding, or cryptography. R3 has been solving these problems and more since 2016, helping every type of business across regulated industries bring Conclave applications to market.

We’re calling on teams of developers and problem solvers to leverage open innovation and develop technology solutions build with Conclave that address specific global problems in unique, clearly demonstrable ways. R3 and Conclave help you unlock deep technical expertise to develop an innovative privacy-first application and make a real impact.

Startups participating in the challenge can use Conclave free of charge, including its upcoming Machine Learning inference capabilities. Conclave is the easiest platform to build next gen data privacy applications and allow you to easily reap the benefits of confidential computing. Through Conclave Cloud and its ML capability, you can run Python inside a secure enclave, offering full data confidentiality and code integrity. These capabilities perfectly match the U.K. and U.S. governments’ PET challenge requirements and are now available to you free of charge. Please contact the team for further information or support.

Why participate in the U.K. and U.S. governments’ PET challenge?

Cutting-edge data privacy and data protection technology is key to tackling global challenges, which eventually affect us all. We believe in the future of privacy-preserving technologies and want to accelerate the adoption of confidential computing and PETs.

Challenge participants have opportunities to build skills, network with other problem-solvers around the world, contribute to social good, and potentially win prizes and the chance to turn their ideas into action. The Conclave team is really excited about this challenge and is looking forward to enabling new opportunities together with you to apply data and machine learning, cloud development, and other emerging technologies to address fraud and boosting pandemic response with trustworthy applications.
